Welcome to a special conversation with Anita Lobo and Neha Dhupia, the driving forces behind GoFloRun. In this interview, they share how a simple idea grew into a movement: one that uses running, fitness and solidarity to break taboos around menstruation and bring dignity & hygiene access to women and girls across India.
What is GoFloRun?
GoFloRun began with a clear vision: a movement for women, by women. As Anita and Neha explain, it’s not ‘just another run.’ It’s a movement that says menstrual health, period hygiene, and women’s wellness are issues worth being loud about. Their aim is to bring together women from all walks of life: from working moms to young women, from fitness enthusiasts to those stepping into sports for the first time.
But GoFloRun is more than fitness: registration isn’t simply a fee, it’s a pledge. With every run, participants support access to menstrual hygiene essentials in rural areas. In partnership with Centre for Catalysing Change (C3), GoFloRun distributes ‘Navya Kits’, containing reusable pads, detergent, a hot-water bag, and educational materials, to girls and women who may otherwise lack safe period products or awareness about menstrual hygiene.
With this dual mission of personal wellness and social change, GoFloRun stands at the intersection of sport, dignity, and social justice.
From personal journeys to social mission: Neha speaks about how the run emerged from her own experiences and understanding how wellness, exercise, and awareness can empower women. Anita reflects on her postpartum journey and how returning to running helped her reclaim strength and inspired the idea of using that strength for a larger cause.
GoFloRun 2025: A bigger, bolder second edition
After a powerful debut, GoFloRun returns in 2025 with renewed energy and a wider reach. The event, slated for 7th December 2025 in Mumbai, will see women from all walks of life participate in three categories (3 km, 5 km, 10 km).
Menstrual hygiene remains a major public-health barrier in India. Many rural areas lack access to clean absorbents, sanitation infrastructure, and education. Events like GoFloRun, combined with NGO partnerships, help normalise conversations, promote dignity, and make hygiene accessible.
