Indian fashion brand, House of Anita Dongre, has diversified its sustainability commitments by investing in Indian electric vehicles company, Altigreen. While the investment amount hasn’t been disclosed yet, this investment is a boost for Altigreen’s aim of making Indian transportation completely electric by 2030 as a part of the Union Government’s plan.
Bangalore-based Altigreen is focused on carbon-free transportation by designing and developing electric vehicle drivetrains, and focuses mainly on emerging markets as well as the Indian market. Its CEO and founder, Amitabh Saran, said in a statement, “We are delighted with this investment. House of Anita Dongre is a pioneer of sustainable and earth-friendly practices in India’s fashion panorama. Their investment is a testimony of Altigreen’s successful endeavours towards a better and clean future, one vehicle at a time. It will extend the horizon of investments in EV solutions beyond the traditional funds while helping us achieve our mission of reducing India’s carbon footprint by making road transport completely electric.”
With the investment, House of Anita Dongre’s commitment to sustainability grows stronger as it supports Altigreen’s aim of making carbon-free vehicles more affordable and accessible. The fashion label already has its sustainable brand, Grassroots, that focuses on promoting and working with rural artisan clusters, empowering women artisans and using sustainable fabrics. It also uses recycled plastics for its packaging and upcycles its manufacturing textile waste.
