Mothers became amateur bloggers circa 2005, entering the blogosphere to seek support from other mothers who shared their experiences. What ensued was a task force of committed individuals who support and encourage one another as they navigate the challenges of motherhood.
The role of a mother requires strength, discipline, and the ability to know what to do at the right time. The pressure to do everything right is high on mothers worldwide - they’ve got to know the answers to questions about diet, postpartum self-care, baby care, kindergarten choices, allergens and chemical-free fabric alternatives. The list is endless!
On the other hand, momfluencers or mom influencers have had a significant impact on social media. Their content is grounded in personal experience and everyday truth. The intimate discourse and space to be honestly vulnerable have been shaped by the rejection of motherly niceties and the challenges of family life. As a result, their credibility and dependability built devoted communities that endure.
The authenticity of mum influencers is what sets them apart. Moms are direct communicators; nearly 60 per cent only discuss products that they genuinely adore. Additionally, audiences believe in the purpose and utility of the items to a greater extent than they normally would, because a majority of them are referenced organically. Aspirational content has radically replaced experience-based content in the content landscape.
However, what makes them so well-liked by women in general, prospective mothers in particular, and how did they adapt to the modern social media landscape? Let’s take a look at some of the momfluencers who have gone beyond their mould with their unique journeys.

Malvika Sitlani
When she discovered she was pregnant, her life changed drastically. Malvika Sitlani was one of the first prominent figures in India to openly discuss prenatal depression. She brought attention to a prevalent mental health concern that many mothers face, but are reluctant to discuss. While chronicling her candid moments of pregnancy, Malvika confessed that she did not feel the overpowering joy of pregnancy that most mothers are ‘supposed’ to feel. Besides a tough pregnancy, Malvika was also going through a split from her husband. Despite these challenges, her journey has been an inspiration as she emerged stronger with her beautiful daughter, Abby. She has since expanded her content to include self-help, single motherhood, and several other aspects, while still continuing to feature the amazing makeup tips.

Mangalaa Arun
Her viral dancing videos made her a household name on the internet in 2023. She is a mother of three, a content developer, and an outstanding dancer who has captured the hearts of netizens with her sassy attitude and graceful moves. But people are unaware of the backstory behind the upbeat face. Her family suffered greatly and lost all their wealth as a result of her husband's gambling addiction. Mangalaa overcame all of this, and is now in a position where she can back her husband in supporting the family while pursuing her passion. When she revealed her husband's story publicly, she faced undue criticism. However, she responded to the vitriol by releasing a reel in which she emphasised that it was her decision to work on her marriage and guarantee her kids had fatherly love.

Shivangi Goel
Shivangi is a mother blogger who specialises in parenting, fitness, and healthy living. She is also a qualified Pilates instructor. It's always so simple to relate to and interact with her videos since she maintains an incredibly natural tone with her content. Her profile is the place to go if you want to find both entertaining and thought-provoking stuff!

Ritu Rathee Taneja
She defies the long-held belief that ‘women cannot drive’ by soaring into the skies while wearing a pilot's outfit. She is a mother of two, a well-known YouTuber, and a pilot. Her career is packed with tremendous successes - she has represented Google Asia Pacific, met Barack Obama, and delivered a TED talk about her trip. With her spouse, she manages a YouTube channel - The Flying Beast, with more than 2.3 million subscribers.

Sameera Reddy
Sameera Reddy, a former Bollywood actress who is now a full-time mother of two children has been captivating her fan base on Facebook and Instagram with relatable and humorous videos. She also advocates for body positivity, unafraid to flaunt her ‘mom bod’ and to show off her grey hair. It's encouraging to see a mother influencer on Instagram who is so accepting of her post-pregnancy body in a time when mothers are resolutely attempting to get back to their pre-pregnancy bodies.

Anupriya Kapur
After experiencing postpartum depression, she made the decision to start jogging in an effort to turn her life around. Anupriya began travelling widely after her divorce, which helped her become a well-known blogger in 2015. Her travels were chronicled in words on her blog, ‘Mom on the Run.’ Anupriya also developed a strong interest in exercise, particularly running, which gave her identity as a fitness devotee still another dimension. She struggled with the worst suicidal thoughts during her postpartum period, but her son ended up being her compass. Anupriya Kapur has persisted in de-stigmatising the stigma associated with being a single mother in a society that is quick to judge her decisions.
