Here’s some great news for women in STEM fields! The University Grants Commission’s Information and Library Network Centre has introduced the She Research Network India (SheRNI). The goal of this programme is to equalise the number of women scientists working in different fields of study. The UGC claims that 81,818 profiles of Indian women working in science and research will be connected via the SheRNI website.
Through the establishment of strong professional networks, this platform facilitates collaboration, mentorship, and career progression possibilities for women scientists and faculty members. The SheRNI programme seeks to further advancement in a variety of sectors by empowering women professionals through meaningful alliances, collaboration, and mutual support. UGC Chairman M Jagadesh Kumar underlined the UGC’s dedication to securing the visibility and acknowledgment of women faculty members and scientists, recognising their crucial role as important pillars in India’s development through their scalable solutions and research accomplishments.
In India, SheRNI is a sizable virtual community for women with a range of specialisations. It helps these women connect with each other so that they may exchange knowledge and support one another. The main goal is to give women as many opportunities as possible to work together, share ideas, and lend assistance. The primary objective of this project is to create an easily accessible forum for women specialists in diverse sectors to share information and experiences. It also aims to compile an extensive database of such experts.
The SheRNI Database provides a multitude of insights. Currently, it exhibits the profiles of 81,818 women academic members, highlighting their significant influence in the field of science. In addition, it includes a substantial collection of 11,543 patents and 6,75,313 publications, underlining the critical role that women play in promoting innovation and scientific advancement.
The UGC announced on X that SheRNI by UGC-INFLIBNET is an expert profile network system connecting over 81,000 active women scientists and researchers in knowledge generation across diverse principles.
