The Her Circle India-Special Issue With Aditi Rao Hydari

Iona Chatterjee|Aug 19, 2024

Our India-special salutes the oneness of thought as differences are allowed to build a bridge.

Amidst the clatter of the looms and intertwined threads, the cover weaves the handloom story and its cultural continuity. The purpose is clear, to support and uplift Indian handloom. Handloom isn’t just a tradition or an art form; it’s an artistic expression and a canvas for inclusivity. Each piece crafted on the loom represents acceptance and unity.

The Her Circle India-Special Cover highlights this spirit, showcasing how threads come together to create fabrics that celebrate artistic freedom and diversity.

As Indian craft across the length and breadth of this rich cultural nation combines various techniques and holds a treasure trove of sartorial elegance, the contrasts of opulent styles and functional weaving find a balance. The harmonious tapestry strung together by multi-hued threads forms the core of the land we call our own.

We joined hands with Aditi Rao Hydari whose uniquely mosaic royal background gives her the vantage point to showcase our heritage with a modern twist. From being on our social media feed for her graceful dance moves to being the most luminous star amidst a galaxy of gorgeous female leads, Aditi loves the camera and it loves her right back. Her artistry is marked by versatility. Her work reflects commitment.

The handlooms that drape Aditi narrate tales of the artisans, age-old techniques that have been passed down through generations. Each thread tells a story of tradition, artistry and resilience. While celebrating freedom, it is important to honour the impact of coming together and embracing differences and strengths. Aditi brings her own unique touch to the mix. Her effortlessly eclectic style gives a fresh twist to traditional and contemporary looks, proving that handloom can be as vibrant and dynamic as she is.
