Guerlain Appoints Experts To Strengthen Sustainability Drive

French luxury perfume and beauty house, Guerlain, has brought together 13 recognised experts in various fields to create a ‘sustainability board’, aimed at helping the brand define and execute a series of strategic initiatives in order to promote sustainable development. The move is aimed at strengthening the Life 360 sustainability programme run by its parent company and luxury brand giant LVMH group. This comes after the appointment of corporate social and environmental responsibility specialist, Cécile Lochard, as the brand’s head of sustainability in October last year.

The sustainability board that environmentalist Yann Arthus-Bertrand as its honorary president, Nirmala Séon-Massin, director of know-how at France’s National Natural History Museum, Marie-Sarah Adenis, co-founder of bio-tech company and sustainable dye producer Pili, and Thierry Dufresne, founder and president of the French apiology institute. With the help of the board, Guerlain aims at developing a series of solutions on strategic issues like eco-formulations, eco-design, ingredient traceability and bee preservation. Bee preservation remains a topic of great importance to the brand, having dedicated several meaningful partnerships to the cause already. The brand also launched a public platform, Bee Respect, in 2019 which was designed to shed light on Guerlain’s use of ingredients and principle suppliers.

The brand also joined the Union for Ethical BioTrade (UEBT), recently in order to reinforce its commitment to control the environmental and social impact of its supply chain.
