Diesel Announces Launch Of Sustainable Collection, Diesel Library

Clothing brand Diesel has announced the launch of its new collection, Diesel Library, with a new approach towards sustainability and gender neutrality. The new project will be a part of the brand's new spring/summer 2022 collection which will be unveiled at Milan Fashion Week in June this year.

The collection will include a variety of timeless and long-lasting denim pieces featuring jackets, tops, skirts and trousers. The brand added in a statement that 50 per cent of the denim collection will have a permanent shelf life. Additionally, these garments will feature fabrics made of low impact organic or recycled fibres, and the washes and treatments used will be sourced using resource-efficient processes.

Details like inner labels, handtags and patches will be made using Forest Management Certification certified materials. Any leather patches featured on the garments will use a chrome-free tanning process and metal buttons used will not go through galvanization. Overall, all garments will be produced using reduced water and chemicals.

Taking a step towards gender neutrality in fashion, the brand will eliminate the pocket delineation between women and men in its pieces, aiming to establish a fresh personality and branding for the clothing label.

Diesel Library will be creative director Glenn Martens’ debut collection since his appointment in October last year. The collection will be available in select Diesel stores and on the brand’s website starting November 2021.
