The Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre Presents - Her Story

The Cube at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre brings you an enigmatic performance this evening to narrate the stories of iconic female characters from Indian mythology - Her Story.

In 'Her Story', a three-act classical dance performance by Shruti Gopal, Shashwati Garai Ghosh and Divya Warier, the spotlight shifts from the often-heard legends of Rama, Krishna, Arjuna, to the female characters who played pivotal roles in these epics. Shashwati Garai Ghosh’s ‘Katha Shoorpanakha’ views the tale of the demoness from ‘Ramayana’ through Odissi, and a fresh perspective. Shruti Gopal’s ‘Thaaraatu’ narrates the story of Ravana’s mother through Bharatnatyam. Finally, Divya Warier brings Hidimbi’s tale to life with the intricate nuances of Mohiniattam.

The three dancers who will perform this evening are the most outstanding in their respective styles. Shashwati has won the Sangeet Natak Akademi’s Yuva Puraskar. Shruti is well-known for her performances with her husband, Parshwanath Upadhyaye. Together they have created award-winning productions that have been performed around the world.
