Her Circle Bizruptors: Mrinal, Co-founder – Jinn

Somewhere between planning breakfast menus and experimenting in the kitchen with Shazia Didi, Mrinal realised that there was something missing from the way we think about everyday food. For all the convenience available today, getting a genuinely comforting, home-cooked meal still often comes down to finding the right person to cook it. That realisation became the starting point for Jinn, a quick home-service platform that brings seasoned cooks into your home to prepare the food you actually want to eat.

In this video of Her Circle Bizruptors, Mrinal talks about building Jinn around a simple idea: make good, home-cooked food easier to access while creating meaningful opportunities for women home cooks. The cooks are handpicked by the company through rigorous trials, trained alongside expert home cooks and vetted before they step into a customer's kitchen. Hygiene, punctuality, humility and a genuine love for food are at the heart of the selection process.

For Mrinal, the idea also comes from a personal relationship with food and home. Raised in Ludhiana and shaped by Mumbai, she spent years as a corporate lawyer after graduating from the University of Cambridge and Jindal Global Law School. Alongside co-founder Ishan, an IIT Bombay graduate who has built two tech start-ups and discovered food across cities and cultures, she set out to create a platform that could celebrate the women who have always been at the heart of home cooking, while giving more people access to their skills.

At Jinn, ambition is deeply rooted in the everyday. It is about the comfort of food that tastes like home, the convenience of having someone come to your kitchen and cook, and the stories and skills of women home cooks being valued beyond their own households. Made with love in Bandra and powered by women, the company is building a different kind of food experience, one that puts people and the joy of cooking back at the centre.
