Her Circle Bizruptor: Harshita Gupta, Founder - Amare
A child's clothes may be outgrown in months. The memories they carry can last a lifetime.
Every mother knows the feeling. The tiny hospital outfit, the clothes worn on a first birthday, the little kurta from an Annaprashan ceremony. Most find their way into storage boxes and cupboards. Harshita Gupta saw an opportunity to repurpose them into something that’s sustainable and meaningful
The brand transforms pre-loved children's clothing into customised memory quilts, cushions, pillows, plush toys, wall hangings, and personalised bags. Each creation gives the existing fabric a new purpose. At Amare, sustainability begins with recognising the value already present in a garment, in its material, its history and its emotional significance.
The business operates through a carefully managed, largely in-house production process. Garments are collected, sorted and pre-cleaned, with natural sun-drying used where appropriate. Harshita and her team then develop the design, taking into account the customer's preferences and the story behind the clothes. Once approved, the quilt moves into hand-tacking and stitching, with multiple rounds of stitching to strengthen the finished product. Each quilt takes approximately seven to ten days to craft.
Entirely bootstrapped, Amare has built its customer base largely through word of mouth, an indicator of the trust required when customers hand over garments carrying personal significance. Sustainability also extends to production waste, with leftover fabric sent to recycling facilities in Bhiwandi.
By extending the usable life of textiles, creating made-to-order products and finding value in materials already owned, Harshita is building a business where craftsmanship and resourcefulness work together.
