When this Bizruptor got married in 2017, it was adorable photos of her and her rescue dog’s matching outfits that won the Internet and caught everyone’s attention. Mitali Salvi who is an internationally certified Canine Trainer & Behaviour Specialist was on her way to becoming an engineer when she adopted her rescue pup – ‘Panty’.
Taking from past experience of growing up around dogs and doing a lot of research online, she taught herself how to train the puppy. It was her vet who encouraged Salvi to take up dog training as a profession. It was then, at the age of 19 when she realised that fate had other plans for her and Salvi turned her passion into a career.
After working as a freelance canine trainer for nearly a decade, Salvi founded Mitali’s Board & Train in 2020. Her establishment is a premium dog training and boarding facility located in Mumbai. Mitali’s Board & Train offers training, and rehabilitation programmes including boarding facilities for the duration of the training for dogs of all ages, sizes and breeds. From puppy training, basic obedience, and off-leash training to severe behavioural issues (aggression, reactivity, anxiety) Salvi has successfully trained over 1000 dogs. Commenting on the future of the pet industry, Salvi says she is optimistic, “Studies have shown that the pet industry in India is seeing a 17% year-on-year growth, which is why the industry is attracting a lot of investments.”
